Reds Deal Giants 12-10 Loss
|
The Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants put on quite a show.
The Cincinnati Reds overcame a fine performance by San Francisco first baseman Ken Reed to defeat the Giants, 12-10, at Candlestick Park. Reed was 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winner in relief was Alan Mills. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings.
Cincinnati took a 9-8 lead on Gabe Alvarez's 32nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Alvarez hit in the top of the 11th, left San Francisco pitcher Frank Jaldana visibly frustrated.
San Francisco manager Chris SF GM said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game."
The win boosted Cincinnati to 47-33.
