Padres Sneak Past Reds, 2-1
|
San Diego pitcher Jim Mann did his part in helping his team beat the Cincinnati Reds, 2-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. San Diego reliever Kenneth Wilp picked up the win, raising his record to 2-4. Doug Drabek was tagged with the loss. At 39-46, the Padres are currently third in the NL National League West.
San Diego took a 2-1 lead on John Jaha's 10th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Cincinnati pitcher Doug Drabek in the bottom of the eighth.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Cincinnati manager B. Boyd said following the tough loss.
