Astros Lose By a Run at Chicago, 6-5
|
The Chicago Cubs defeated the Houston Astros, 6-5. Doing his part was shortstop Luis Baez, who went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Chicago pitcher Tom Glavine got the win, upping his record to 9-10. Rafael Mesa got the loss. Chicago is 48-64 and Houston, with the loss, 55-57.
Baez had a timely hit for Chicago in the bottom of the seventh. With Houston trailing 4-3, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 2-run double. It was his 14th double of the season, making it 5-4, Chicago.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Baez. "Those qualities define our team."
