Yankees Stun Twins, 5-4
|
Starting pitcher Chris Carpenter pitched well enough to help the New York Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins, 5-4. Todd Rizzo nailed down his 9th save. Minnesota now is 11-19.
Ruben Sierra's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Rob Dibble for a run-scoring single. It put New York in front, 5-4.
"I like the groove we're in," said Sierra.
