New York starter Duane Ward had a strong outing against the Cleveland Indians at Yankee Stadium II. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Ward got the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Ward allowed 2 runs. Memo Sandoval closed the game out for New York, earning his 1st save.
Tony Clark had an important at-bat with one out in the bottom of the first, when he hit a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season put New York on top, 2-0.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Clark said after the game.
With the victory, the Yankees record now stands at 23-21.
