Tigers Beat Boston, 3-2
|
The Detroit Tigers eked out a 3-2 win versus the Boston Red Sox at Tiger Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Jose Rijo. He was terrific. Rijo went the distance for Detroit. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. Detroit leads the AL American League East by 4 games.
Chris Knabenshue was the walk-off hero for Detroit. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Rijo said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
