Indians Win Nail-Biter
|
The Cleveland Indians did just enough to secure a victory over the Boston Red Sox, 3-2, at Cleveland Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Kent Wallace. Andy Hightower snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 2-1 on the season. The Red Sox, now 33-34, have lost 5 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Cleveland pinch hitter Brian Giles, facing Gregg Olson, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Indians the 3-2 win.
"The ending was a real humdinger," Giles told reporters after the game.
