On Road, Baltimore Drops Milwaukee, 5-1
|
The Baltimore Orioles got a strong performance from pitcher Ken Dayley, who stymied the Milwaukee offense en route to a win, 5-1, at County Stadium. Dayley went the distance for Baltimore. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. The Orioles improved to 34-40.
Baltimore relied on the bat of Jim Thome to get the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the first inning to put the Orioles ahead, 1-0. For the game, Thome had 1 double and 1 triple in 4 at-bats.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Milwaukee manager Stan Perzanowski. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
