The Texas Rangers topped the Chicago White Sox, 6-4, in AL action at Globe Life Field. The standout performance belonged to Texas pitcher and The United States, native Barry Hightower. Julio Machado, now 7-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Walt Roy earned save number 26 this season.

Texas took a 5-3 lead on Frank Thomas's 22nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Chicago pitcher Buddy Groom in the bottom of the eighth.

"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Thomas told the Texas Daily News.

With the victory, the Rangers upped their record to 65-37.
