Angels Lose Late, 6-3
|
The New York Yankees defeated the California Angels, 6-3, at Anaheim Stadium. Carlos Delgado was one of the standouts for New York. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 triple, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 3 he knocked in. New York pitcher Jimmy Amoruso got the win, upping his record to 12-10. Daven Bond got the loss. The Yankees sit in first place in the AL American League East with a record of 81-45.
Delgado had a game-changing triple in the top of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Rafael Betancourt, he banged a 2-run triple to left-center, giving the Yankees a 5-3 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Delgado.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Delgado told the New York News.
