No one was more impactful than Sean Fric in the 6-5 Boston win over Detroit. Fric, who is tied for 2nd in the AL with a .623 slugging percentage, went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Red Sox move to 63-62 with the win, while the Tigers drop to 70-55.
Boston took a 6-2 lead on Toby Rumfield's 25th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Rumfield hit in the top of the seventh, left Detroit pitcher Jake Jacobs shaking his head.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Fric. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
