Expos Topple Cubs, 5-4
|
The Montreal Expos bested the Chicago Cubs, 5-4, at Wrigley Field. Mica Lewis was one of the standouts. He was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Scott Watkins, 4-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. At 79-68, Montreal is in third place in the NL National League East.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Al Martin? The Montreal left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Expos on top, 2-1. For the game, Martin had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Montreal manager Parm Smith.
