|
Toronto rode a good effort from starter Tony Mack to beat the California Angels at Anaheim Stadium. The final score was 5-2. The winning pitcher was Mack, now 13-8. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. Brian Wood finished to wrap up his 27th save.
James Motte, the 26-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Motte contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Toronto up, 4-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Toronto skipper Jeremy Jays GM.
