Diaz Cracks 6 Hits Monday, June 30th , 1997 Einar Diaz knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Globe Life Field today, he made his case to be considered among that group. The 24-year-old catcher hammered 6 hits in 6 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Cleveland Indians fell, 12-10, to the Texas Rangers. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Rangers manager Will Hawkins told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Diaz wasn't the difference." Einar Diaz doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
