Robinson Belts Bunch of Base Hits Thursday, September 11th , 1997 No matter what the Chicago Cubs threw at him today, Brad Robinson hit it. He easily handled Cubs pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Padres to a 3-0 triumph at Jack Murphy Stadium. "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview. Told of Robinson's quip, Cubs skipper Rotney Smith said he "would take him up on that next time." Brad Robinson singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Robinson is currently batting .263 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs.
