Oakland Season Won't Continue in Playoffs Thursday, September 25th , 1997 The Oakland Athletics organization won't be ending this season in celebration. The team was officially eliminated from playoff contention today. The Athletics have made the playoffs 19 times in their 127 years as a Replay Baseball League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 16th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1981. Oakland has won the World Series 5 times in their history. |
