Wild Card Clinched by St. Louis Sunday, September 28th , 1997 It's time to start thinking about the playoffs for the St. Louis Cardinals. The NL National League Central club today secured a wild card berth, which second baseman Jack Howell said is something the club is "extremely proud of," even though they had hoped to win the division. With a record of 93-65, the Cardinals won't be going into the playoffs as favorites, but Howell said he believes the Cardinals have a good chance to bring home the franchise's 11th World Series. |
