Packers Win Northern League Crown Monday, September 8th , 1997 The Northern League crown was certainly in question throughout the season, but the Sioux Falls Packers have now finally claimed it. With a record of 105-34, the club has won its 13th division title. "It's special," starting pitcher Clint Weibl said when asked to sum up his feelings. "It's easy to take for granted what it's like to be on a winning team, but everyone who has ever been on a loser knows how sweet this is." Team manager Richard Dare said the focus will now shift towards getting ready for the playoffs, where the team will be trying to win the 12th championship in franchise history. |
