Montelongo Holds Black Sox Scoreless Monday, September 15th , 1997 Sioux Falls Packers starter Joe Montelongo really did a number on the Henderson Black Sox today, shutting them out 4-0 on 4 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 2 walks and had 5 strikeouts. "We didn't have good at-bats," said Henderson manager Jim R Campbell. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Montelongo." This year Montelongo has compiled a 18-7 mark with a 2.36 ERA. |
