Tollberg Wins Florida State League Pitching Crown Friday, October 3rd , 1997 Brian Tollberg was the most outstanding pitcher in the Florida State League this year and today was acclaimed the Pitcher of the Year Award winner for his efforts. Tollberg had a marvelous season, going 23-9 with an impressive 2.05 ERA in 37 starts. He struck out 127 in 277 innings and limited opposing batters to a .233 batting average. He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Todd Bartels of the Laredo Marlins finished second in voting, while Jimmy Osting of the Key West Bloodlines finished third.
