Stars Nose Past Milwaukee, 2-1
|
The Nashville Stars and Milwaukee Brewers put on a pitchers' duel.
The Nashville Stars went home winners at Miller Park, thanks in large part to starter Andy Coakley. Coakley stifled the Milwaukee Brewers, enabling Nashville to grab the 2-1 win. Bo McLaughlin picked up the save for Nashville, his 6th of the year.
Nashville got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Larry Gardner. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stars ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"We'll enjoy this ride as long as it lasts," said Stars manager Mike Allegretti.
The Stars, now 31-5, have won 7 in a row.
