Mariners Top Red Sox, 6-1
|
Safeco Field was the site for American League action featuring the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners.
Seattle left fielder Al Wingo was a significant contributor in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Boston Red Sox. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks for Seattle. Seattle is now 28-20. Boston is 26-23.
The Mariners got a big boost from catcher Glenn Borgmann who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth inning off Red Sox hurler George Winter. It was his 8th RBI of the season and put Seattle on top, 2-1.
"They played a better game than we did," said Boston skipper Charles Parietti.
