Pastore Brings A-Game, Phillies Beat Padres
|
The Philadelphia Phillies topped the San Diego Padres, 2-1, in National League action at Petco Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Philadelphia pitcher Frank Pastore. Bob Grim was credited with the save for Philadelphia, his 13th of the season. At 30-45, the Phillies claim last place in the National League East Division.
The Phillies liked what they saw from Pastore. The 21-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Padres to 1 run on 4 hits over 8 innings, and striking out 7.
"They played a better game than we did," said San Diego skipper .
