Cardinals Rally For 4-2 Win
|
The New York Mets got a superb performance from pitcher Matt Kilroy. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Louis. The Cardinals won the game, 4-2. Kilroy threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The winning pitcher was Tony Gonsolin. He's now 5-5. He went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits for the Cardinals. The save went to Masaaki Tokunaga, number 1 for him.
Tommy White delivered for St. Louis in the top of the ninth. His 3-run home run off New York pitcher Chris Britton put St. Louis in front, 4-2.
"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," White said. "And the same is true when you lose."
The Cardinals are now 46-50, while the Mets fall to 46-50.
