In a tight contest at Busch Stadium, the St. Louis Cardinals edged the San Francisco Giants by the score of 6-5. St. Louis left fielder Babe Ruth, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The win gives St. Louis a season record of 81-81.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with St. Louis trailing 5-4, Ernest Riles hit a fastball from Charlie Sweeney for a 2-run home run, giving the Cardinals the walk-off win.

"This wasn't a good win," said Ruth. "It was a great win."
