Angels Beat Red Sox, 1-0
|
The Boston Red Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Larry French, but the Los Angeles Angels still won the game, 1-0. French threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Los Angeles reliever Joe Corbett picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0. Larry French was tagged with the loss. The Red Sox, now 4-8, continue their poor start.
The Angels got a big at-bat from third baseman Gunnar Henderson. For the game, Henderson went 2 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Los Angeles manager Bill Benson.
