Mariners Slap 8-5 Loss on Astros
The Houston Astros got a superb performance from catcher Luis Tovar. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Seattle. The Mariners won the game, 8-5. Tovar went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Seattle reliever George Pipgras was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Salvadaro Malafaia took the loss for Houston. The Astros, now 4-8, continue their poor start.

Brian Dozier, the 33-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Dozier contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Seattle up, 3-0.

"It was a solid team effort," said Dozier after the game.
