Melvin Nieves helped his team muscle past the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-3. In the game, the Texas left fielder belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The Rays fall to 5-9 and continue their lackluster start to the 2070 season.

Nieves had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Matt Moore, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Rangers a 4-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Nieves.

"I still think this team can play even better," Nieves told the Texas Observer.
