Dunleavy, Cubs Wallop Blue Jays, 10-2
|
The Chicago Cubs beat the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 10-2. Chicago left fielder Scott Dunleavy deserved the lion's share of the credit. Dunleavy was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 6 for the Cubs. David Flores got the win, improving to 21-5. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Chris Ostrom earned the save for Chicago, his 1st of the year.
With Chicago leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Dunleavy batted against Toronto pitcher Jonathan Perkins. Dunleavy hit a changeup to right for a grand slam home run. His 17th home run of the season put the Cubs on top, 5-0.
"I wish every win came this easy," said Dunleavy.
At 88-49, the Cubs have a slim two-game lead in the NL Central Division.
