Blue Jays Earn 4-0 Home Win
|
Jonathan Perkins, who finished 4th in the AL in strikeouts with 215 in 1995, propelled his team to victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The final score was 4-0, Toronto. Jordan Tention was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 7 save opportunities. The third-place Orioles dropped to 83-62.
Chad Langlois had a big 2-run double for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Toronto leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Jordan Menendez, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1995 draft, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 36th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-0.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Perkins.
