The Boston Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Spiders, 8-2, at Fenway Park II. Leading the charge for Boston was right fielder Rafael Torres. He was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Boston pitcher Bobby Crippen got the win, upping his record to 16-6. Chris Bianucci got the loss. Boston, at 85-77, occupies third place in the AL East Division.

With one out in the top of the sixth, Aaron O'Mara had a chance to do some damage. Cleveland was trailing 8-1, but had the bases loaded. O'Mara came to the plate against Aaron Thomas, and hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough to complete a Cleveland comeback.
