Cardinals Lose, 2-1, to Florida
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Florida Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals, pitcher Elijah James was the difference between victory and defeat. The Florida right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Marlins win. James, now 3-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Reginald Cross locked down his 4th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Tim Brown? The Florida left fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Marlins on top, 2-1. For the game, Brown had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Elijah did a good job of managing their lineup," said Florida manager Nick Wong.
The Marlins raised their record to 10-26.
