Expos Lose to Phillies in Walk-Off
Veterans Stadium played host to some dramatic action.

The Philadelphia Phillies cut down the Montreal Expos by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Emilio Gomez. Gomez was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI for the Phillies. Matt Olmos came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 4-8.

Philadelphia got a clutch hit from Mat Paulsen. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was game-ender.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Gomez told the Philadelphia Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."

The Phillies go to 60-68, putting them third in the NL East Division.
