Peaches Halt Parrish Hit Streak Saturday, August 31st , 1996 The Hillsboro Hops lost to the Macon Peaches, 14-2, at Citadelles Ballpark, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Jimmy Parrish's 20-game hitting streak. The first baseman went 0-for-3 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Parrish, we would win the game," Peaches manager explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." So far this year, Parrish is hitting .335 with 9 home runs. |
