Coles Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Stompers
Friday, January 31st , 1997
John Coles went on an explosive hitting spree against the Onondaga Baseball Academy Stompers at Ballpark of Milwaukee HS, launching a trio of blasts to help the Credit Baseball Academy Sugar Maples win, 31-14.
The catcher finished 4-for-6 with 4 runs scored and 7 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," Coles said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Onondaga Baseball Academy skipper said Coles was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
John Coles grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Matt Pool in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Brian Wright in the 5th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Dan Fuller in the 8th.
