The Springdale Lizards picked up a win at Olympics Stadium, knocking off the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, 6-4. Starting pitcher Eugene Mousa was a big reason why. Springdale reliever Jayden Cutts picked up the win, raising his record to 8-5. Ares Econome was tagged with the loss. The save went to Russ Murfin, number 11 for him.
Springdale needed the clutch hitting of Haywood Weber to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lizards on top, 6-4. For the game, Weber had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Springdale manager Derrek Wilson.
The Retrievers, now 31-102, have lost 4 in a row.
