Streaking Pepes Win Another One, 2-1
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Peoria Pepes and the Las Vegas Daredevils. Peoria won it, 2-1. Peoria starter Ralph Franklin was in command. Franklin, now 5-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Las Vegas has now lost 4 straight.
The Pepes got a big at-bat from designated hitter Dan Henry. For the game, Henry was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Peoria a 2-0 lead.
"Tough loss," said Las Vegas manager Frank Evans. "But we'll learn from it."
