Cossacks Show Nerve in Tight 4-3 Win
|
The Phoenix HS Maulers got a superb performance from pitcher Bobby Marshall. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Glendale HS. The Cossacks won the game, 4-3. Marshall threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Parker Powell snagged the win in relief. In 2.1 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits. He's now 1-0 on the season. Glendale HS is second in the Conference 1 Division 4 with a record of 14-10.
Keith Meredith was the walk-off hero for Glendale HS. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cossacks designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Meredith said.
