Rush Earn 14-13 Win Versus Fire Ants
San Diego HS first baseman Garrett Méndez was sensational. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. New Orleans HS beat the Fire Ants, 14-13. The winner in relief was Randy Fixx. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. The first-place Rush have a one-game lead in their division.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the 11th. With New Orleans HS trailing 13-12, Roberto Montés hit a curveball from Stanton McKeggie to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Rush had a walk-off win.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Montés told the New Orleans HS Observer.
