Monkeys Deal Axemen 6-0 Defeat

Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the San Antonio HS Axemen home opener. Randall Campbell started for the home team against Robby Helton for the Seattle HS Monkeys. The Axemen were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 6-0, Seattle HS. Robby Helton, though, was impressive. Helton, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. The save was credited to Stanley Ervin, his 1st.
The Monkeys got a big at-bat from first baseman Bill Kelley. For the game, Kelley was 1 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Seattle HS a 2-0 lead.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Base Hitley.
