A good performance from catcher Clyde Hatch helped the Miami HS Fighters defeat the Atlanta HS Night Train, 9-5. Hatch hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Fighters. Jack Rennie snagged the win in relief. In 3.2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits. He's now 1-1 on the season. Michael Deleón earned the save for Miami HS, his 1st of the year.

It could have been a different outcome for Miami HS, had it not been for Denny Martin, the 16-year old left fielder . Martin contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Miami HS up, 8-5.

"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Hatch, "but we could've played better."

Yes, it was a win for Miami HS; but their 7-16 record is still nothing to boast about.
