Visiting Eagles Beat Lancers, 5-4

The Longwood Lancers got a sterling performance from first baseman Steven McCoy, but the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles still prevailed, 5-4. McCoy was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times. Cliff Wallace came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Terry Bowers was credited with the save for Florida Gulf Coast, his 2nd of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for Florida Gulf Coast, had it not been for Bernard Carlisle, the 19-year old second baseman . Carlisle contributed a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put Florida Gulf Coast up, 4-3.
"The vibe's good," said Florida Gulf Coast manager Chad Robinson. "We've got to keep it going."
The first-place Eagles have a record of 9-6.
