The Charleston Seamen defeated the Salt Lake Squirrels, 4-1, in Steam League action at Boeing Park. Charleston pitcher Harold Miller had a standout performance. The last-place Seamen go to 31-64.

Wayne Stephenson cracked a home run off John Jacobson in the bottom of the third. His 3-run blast put the Seamen on top, 3-0. In all, Stephenson had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

Miller attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
