Tom Burgess was a vital contributor to the 9-1 Florence victory over Chesapeake. The Trains catcher was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. César Mendoza earned the save, his 1st. The loss drops Chesapeake to 0-2.
With Florence leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Burgess hit a fastball from Joe Hunter for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Trains ahead, 4-1.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Burgess told the Florence Daily.
