Behind a fine performance from Theodore Miller, the Staten Island Pizza Rats knocked off the New Orleans Sabercats, 13-10. Miller was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Pizza Rats. Mason Sanderson earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 5 runs on 4 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 10-1. Leonard Hubbard got the save, his 15th in 15 chances.

Staten Island needed the clutch hitting of Don Dougherty to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pizza Rats on top, 9-5. For the game, Dougherty had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

New Orleans manager Mike Alexander said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."
