The Tampa Bay Rays got a stellar effort from pitcher Brad Rowley, helping Tampa Bay score a win over the visiting Minnesota Twins, 5-2. Rowley, the winner, moves to 3-5. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk. With the win, the Rays improved to 31-33.

An important at-bat for the Rays came in the bottom of the fourth, when shortstop Juan Lugo stroked a 2-run home run. That made the score 2-0 in favor of Tampa Bay. For the day, Lugo went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Tampa Bay manager Mat Melville.
