RiverDogs 9-5 Winners Over Asheville
|
The Charleston RiverDogs beat the Asheville Tourists, 9-5, at McCormick Field. The RiverDogs got a fine performance from second baseman Adrian Sutton, who was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ben Tupa was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 3 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jose Ramirez finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
In the top of the second, Charleston center fielder Tony Briones took Asheville pitcher Jerry Davila deep. His 3-run home run made the score 4-1, RiverDogs. For the game, Briones was 2-6 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Sutton told the Charleston Daily News.
The 5th-place RiverDogs bumped their record to 16-23.
