The Texas Rangers topped the Houston Astros, 8-7, with designated hitter Roger Palacios playing a big role. Palacios hit 2 home runs for the Rangers in the win. Andy Deal, 7-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. Texas now sits in first place in the American League West Division at 30-19.

The Rangers relied on right fielder Vinny Alvarez for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Palacios.
