Chicago and Boston got after it at Wrigley Field.

Getting a good performance from shortstop Xavier Cain, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Boston Red Sox, 7-6. Cain went 3-5 with 3 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Cubs. Jonathan Head got credit for the save for Chicago. It was his 14th of the year.

Cain had an impressive at-bat with the game on the line. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 0-1 curveball from Paul Devitt for a 2-run double. Just like that, the Cubs took the lead, 7-6.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Chicago manager Tyler Zuber.

Chicago is now 33-29, Boston 33-29.
