Volcanoes Scratch Out 2-1 Win
|
Both offenses were feeble at MCU Park. Fortunately for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, though, Juan Ortega delivered in the clutch. He was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, to help his team topple the Brooklyn Cyclones, 2-1. Joel Postell earned his 19th save, after closing out the game. Salem-Keizer, at 32-41, sits in 5th place in the Warning Track League East Division.
Salem-Keizer took a 2-0 lead on Ortega's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Fred Melnik in the top of the sixth, propelled Salem-Keizer to the win.
"Good ballgame," said Brooklyn manager Joey Side. "But we came up on the short end."
